We offer pre-paid packages of sessions as well as single sessions. Pre-paid package sessions can be scheduled for any time throughout the semester in which they were purchased. All sessions are one-on-one.

You will coordinate meeting arrangements directly with your tutor. For in-person sessions, popular locations include EPSL and McKeldin Library. For virtual sessions the most popular platform is Zoom, which is the official platform of UMD's online courses. We have also used Google Hangouts, Skype, other video platforms, and chat platforms such as Google Chat and Google Docs.
After we receive your request, we will put you in touch with a tutor who is a good match for your course and availability. Most requests are processed within a few hours.
Once we've matched you with an appropriate tutor, you can schedule your sessions directly with them via email or text message. Many of our tutors are available during weekends as well as during the week. Depending on the tutor and your schedules, you may be able to meet the same day!
We accept major credit and debit cards through our secure payment processor, Stripe. When you submit a request, you can choose to pay by either:
If you enter your credit card during sign up, we will not charge you until you actually receive services. Your card number will only be stored with Stripe, which is fully PCI compliant. Full card numbers are never stored on our own servers.
You should gather any materials relevant to the course, including math textbooks, notes, and assignments. Make sure you can login to your class's web portal so that you can access materials and assignments.
No problem, just be sure to give us at least 24 hours advanced notice. We reserve the right to charge for the full cost of any sessions that are missed or cancelled without sufficient notice.
Our tutoring sessions are one-on-one meetings with an experienced tutor, usually lasting an hour. You may use the time to go over homework, practice for exams, or focus on particular topics that are giving you trouble.
No problem, just make sure you coordinate this with your tutor ahead of time. We typically recommend that you meet for at least 30 minutes at a time, and never for more than 3 hours without scheduling appropriate breaks.
After your session, we will bill you based on how long you met as reported by your tutor. We will prorate our billing to the nearest 10-minute interval.
Session packages allow you to purchase multiple tutoring sessions at a reduced rate by paying in advance. Our 10-hour package offers the best value, and is geared towards students who begin tutoring early in the semester, and meet with a tutor approximately every week. We also offer a 5-hour package for students who join us later, or who wish to meet every other week. Session packages can be used for multiple classes and with any of our tutors.
We will allow you to 'lock in' a package rate for additional sessions after you run out. For example, if you purchase a 10-hour package for $450, each additional hour will only cost $45. We may bill you in bulk for these additional sessions, or individually if you prefer. Please contact us to make sure we know how you would like to be charged.
Sessions packages are meant to incentivize students who are committed to succeeding by offering them a significant discount over our regular hourly rate. As such, we do not offer partial refunds on session packages, except in the following extenuating circumstances:
Not usually. We believe that students get the most value from their sessions when they have their tutor's undivided attention.
However, some students find it helpful to work with a friend. In this case, it is up to the discretion of your tutor if they want to work with you in a group setting. Each member of the group should first complete an individual session, and then ask the tutor if they would be willing to do additional sessions with your group. If your tutor agrees, there will be a $20 hourly surcharge for each additional student, in addition to your base hourly rate.
