College Park Tutors was founded in 2015 by Alex Weissman, a graduate of UMD's Clark School of Engineering (B.S. Comp. Eng. '06, M.S. Mech. Eng. '12). During his time at Maryland, he realized that there was a great demand for personalized, one-on-one help from experienced tutors - more than he could possibly fulfill by himself!

A few years after graduating he partnered with Sarah Baghdadi to develop a business strategy. Sarah brought her expertise from many years at Brighter Days Collective, DC's largest cooperatively owned and run business. Alex brought over ten years of experience as a highly recommended tutor in math, engineering and computer science. Together, Alex and Sarah developed College Park Tutors into a network of carefully vetted, local experts in specific courses taught at University of Maryland. This followed the success of Bloomington Tutors, which they founded with the same mission and principles at Indiana University.
